Yard to field

Pipe, fittings and orchard supplies delivered from Cowiche

When the load will not fit the pickup or the crew cannot leave the block, call the counter. Foothills Irrigation delivers across orchard country and ships when the job is farther out.

Chapter 01

Why a delivery beats a second trip to town

Irrigation freight is awkward freight. Full lengths of PVC pipe do not ride in a pickup bed without hanging out past the tailgate, and a pallet of fittings, valves or sand media is more than anyone should be wrestling up a rutted orchard road. Loading it right at the yard on Thompson Road and having it brought out saves the back and the pipe both.

The other case is the one nobody plans for. A main lets go in the middle of a hot week in the Upper Valley, the block is thirsty, and the crew cannot leave the rows to drive down to Cowiche for parts. That is the day a truck coming to you is worth more than anything else the counter does.

How to order a delivery from the counter

Start with a call to the counter at (509) 678-4951, or send the list by email to patty@foothillsirrigation.com or by fax to (509) 678-4952. Tell the salesman what you need, where it is going and when you need it on the ground. Their own line on it is short: “WE DELIVER! Contact us for information.” The particulars get settled on the phone with someone who knows the stock, not guessed at on a web page.

A good list makes the whole thing quicker. Name the pipe size and class, the fittings and whether they are glue or thread, the valves, and the make of emitter, sprinkler or filter media you are matching. If you want the number before anything goes on the truck, ask for a price quote on the list first and then say go.

Chapter 03

Shipping farther afield, and parts off the shelf

Not every job sits a short drive from the store. Foothills serves the Upper Valley and Eastern Washington, and shipping is available when the work is farther out than a delivery run makes sense. Call with what you need and where it is headed, and the counter will tell you how it can get there.

Plenty of what you will ask for is on the shelf, and the rest the store can usually have within a day. Say so on the call when the clock matters, so the salesman checks the yard before he promises anything. A new block is the natural fit for delivery: the parts list built at the counter for an orchard design rides out in one run instead of five.
